Gentle outpatient methods without surgery
We specialise exclusively in the non-surgical removal of haemorrhoids. The doctor determines the right method, and any combination of methods, after the initial examination.
Barron ligation (rubber bands)
The gentlest way to remove internal haemorrhoids. A tiny elastic band is placed on the haemorrhoid, restricting its blood supply.
Infrared coagulation
A short treatment in which infrared light targets the small blood vessels supplying the haemorrhoidal tissue.
What are haemorrhoids?
Vascular cushions under the lining of the rectum and the skin of the anal opening that widen under certain circumstances and form lumps, similar to varicose veins. Their presence alone is not a disease; at rest they are soft and painless.
External haemorrhoids
Semi-spherical swellings around the anal opening. Skin irritation, itching and moisture occur because cleansing after a bowel movement is difficult. Self-treatment brings only temporary relief.
Internal haemorrhoids
Located inside the rectum, at first only an unpleasant feeling of pressure. Later, bright red blood appears after a bowel movement, and in more advanced stages prolapse can occur.

What to do after treatment and what to avoid
We recommend
- Drink 2 to 3 litres of fluids a day.
- Add fibre to your diet, 200 to 300 g of fruit or cooked vegetables a day.
- Limit spicy and acidic foods.
- Shower the anal area twice a day for 3 to 5 minutes with water at 28 to 30 °C.
We do not recommend
- Alcoholic drinks and spirits.
- Sports that increase intra-abdominal pressure, lifting heavy loads, intensive strength training.
- Riding a bicycle, motorcycle or horse.
A small amount of bleeding during the days following the procedure is no cause for concern.
